How the plan developed

Careful planning and research went into the design of this plan. Here's how we did it:

Using 4 Lenses

We used four lenses to look at the future of our city, just to make sure we tackled the right problems.

Growth
Equity
Sustainability
Resilience

Engaging People

And we engaged all kinds of New Yorkers to make sure we focused on what matters.

New Yorkers
Civic and Business Leaders
Elected Officials
City Agencies

What We Found

After months of research and conversations, we found fundamental, cross-cutting challenges and opportunities ahead for New York City as we enter our 5th century.

In ten years, New York City will celebrate its 400th anniversary. #OneNYC envisions our city in its 5th century and sets goals to ensure that all New Yorkers can thrive in a city that is dynamic, livable, and safe.

Our visions for the future

We must act boldly to build on our strengths and confront our challenges. The goals we envision and the actions we take today will define our city's future.

Making these visions a reality

Our goals are big. There's a lot of work ahead. As we work to implement these four visions, we'll measure progress against core principles of empowerment, regionalism, and inclusion.

Civic Engagement

Civic engagement and resident-centered government are priorities and have resources to succeed.

Diverse & Inclusive Government

New York City's government reflects the diversity and inclusion of all communities.

Regionalism

New York City will work closely with our neighbors on issues such as transportation, housing, and jobs.
